πŸ—“οΈ Weeknote 2025-W25

2025-06-22 16:06

πŸƒ Ran 12.2km / 124m - Only the one run this week. It was a route I hadn't taken for a while. It winds up the Shotover River through some pretty nice easy grade single-track that ducks in and out of bush and river beds.

🌱 I bought some Codling Moth tree guards for my fruit trees. I have 2 plums, 2 apricots and 1 apple. The apples are the only ones producing fruit so far, but they definitely got attacked in the last harvest, so I'll try these bands out.

🩸 Health - My focus has been on strengething and movement exercises to get my left glute and hamstring firing again. This will hopefully take the grunt off my left knee when I'm running, which has caused me a bit of grief these past months. Today's run felt good, and I've been feeling some effects of the workouts.

🧠 My headspace could be a little better. Running used to be such a big part of my life, and now I am mending my injuries, I'm starting to feel like I haven't filled the void appropriately. I get SO much from running - fitness, meditation, community, exploration, endorphins, sunshine, you name it. So yeah, I don't think I've come anywhere near matching that with other activities. I've certainly kept my brain engaged with study and coding and things, but my Vietnam holiday in August couldn't come quicker. My exercising is helping, but I'm finding it hard to keep the routine going. Anyway...

🏒 Work - Tomorrow I will book in my exam for the Cabling and Infrastructure Technician (CIT) certification. I'll give myself 2 weeks to brush up on the content. Will be good to knock this one off.

πŸ“š I renewed my library membership, and borrowed a couple of electronics fundamental books for additional study material.

πŸ’» I've made a little progress on my "activity tracker". Now when I plug my watch into my laptop, it downloads the .fit file, and appends the new activities to a database (currently a pandas pickle file and duckdb file). I might put this one on pause while I focus on some study, but happy with the progress so far. Looking forward to the next steps. Before I take it further, I want to map out the project direction better (see Freeplane notes below).

πŸ’» I updated my daily-notes and write scripts which basically just give me a really quick way to start writing from the terminal. If I type the alias dn it will open my current Daily Note markdown file. If I type wr it will prompt me for a title first, create it, then open it. Both are synced with my Obsidian vault on my Android.
