Mr Robot

I just finished watching the Mr Robot series in its entirety for the first time. It took me just under a month for 4 seasons. At 35 episodes, that's averaging a little over an episode a day. Damn I thought I didn't binge that one, but I guess I did.

I'm not a TV junkie or anything, but I must say, that is the best show I have ever seen. There, I've said it. I don't think I've said that about any movie or music album before. Sure I get the feelings of how good they are, but to proclaim any one as the best is pretty damn hard. How can you rate say Pulp Fiction over Blade Runner? I can't because they're both friggin masterpieces.

But right now, I honestly feel like nothing has compared to Mr Robot. It's probably recency-bias, but whatever, I'll call myself out later when future-me goes to write something else is the best.

Why'd I like it so much? It's a long list. It had nerdy things of course to keep the pace going, but man it got very dark. A lot of people died you didn't want to. It also had a heap of Tarantinoesque scenes (especially the scenes and dialogue of Leon). The opening scenes always reminded me of a 70s grindhouse classic. The whole "Which Elliot?" escalation throughout the entirety unfolded nicely. I almost thought it was getting a bit too much towards the end of the last season, but it all rounded out right on point at the end. I shed tears. There were some heavy psychological themes. The episode where Vera forced Elliot's psychologist Christa to unbundle some heavy truths was a bloody masterpiece right to the end. Almost all the characters were likable in their dark ways.

Yeah I liked it.
