The elevation bars are combined runs/walks/hikes. Ideally I'd have exactly this with interactivity so I can move the focus of the distance across the x-axis. Future project. It will essentially be a /uses page on steroids. You'll be able to click into each tool for more info on how I actually use the thing. It's plain HTML, CSS and JS (sorry) at the moment. No SSG. I also haven't made any actual pages yet for each of the items. I want to run with the same style, but drop javascript if I can, and have more filtering options based on a tagging system. I'm thinking a markdown yaml/toml template will be the easiest with an SSG but I'm not confident in the filtering options blending with my style. I'll just start, keep the template flexible if I need to shift to some other system. A proper database even. Seeing the post on <a href="https://tailscale.com/blog/chat-tails-terminal-chat">chat-tails</a>, a Tailscale IRC-like chat with telnet/netcat backend, gave me the idea, as it's akin to <a href="https://tilde.chat/">how tildes provide chat</a>, amongst other services. I'd put in things like a gemini server, shared workspaces,a space to journal, and my own "dev-log" stream so people can call me out on anything I'm setting up.</p> <p>I think it'd be a good way for me (and others?) to learn more on network administration and security. Definitely a place where friction in workflows are welcome.</p> <p>As I am an <em>aspiring</em> network/service/system administrator, it'd be fun to do this with some other beginners with interest in this area, and start building a small community. Skilled folk too who may wish to lend a hand. At home in the morning I got <a href="https://nextcloud.com/">NextCloud</a> working on my Supermicro <a href="https://www.truenas.com/">TrueNAS</a> server.</p> <p>At work, boss wanted me to trial linux on our field laptops. On an old clunker I installed <a href="https://ubuntu.com/">Ubuntu</a> with <a href="https://www.virtualbox.org/">Virtualbox</a> running Windows 10. We do a lot of network configuration of routers, switches, AV and security equipment. Some software is windows-only, and require USB licences. Before end of day I got USB recognised in the Windows 10 Virtualbox. Will need to do some local network and software testing.</p> <p>We're also looking at installing NextCloud at work to escape Google Drive. I think I'm going to opt for the boss's spare QNAP to start with, because we just want to run a minimal NextCloud for 5 users with a 1TB RAID1 mirror setup. I'd prefer a Supermicro, HP Proliant or TrueNAS Mini, which are all compatible with the TrueNAS OS, but the price is just too much for that hardware. We install Ubiquiti routers, switches and APs for a lot for our clients, and saw they have a <a href="https://store.ui.com/us/en/search?search=unas">UNAS range</a>, but it seems they're a bit early days and like QNAP and Synology, locked into their own OS. I'll trial the QNAP to start with and continue to tinker with my own Supermicro, so we can make some comparisons.</p> <p>After a run, when I got home I installed <a href="https://immich.app/">Immich</a> on the Supermicro. I wanted something better for browsing and storing my photos and I am really happy with how Immich is looking on first test. Installed the app on my Android and managed to sync my Camera album very quickly. The physio runs a strength session in their gym once a week too, so I've joined up to that as well.</p>
