Finished a gate off today. I like these jobs. Outside, away from the riff raff of housebuilds with a million tradies having radio wars and blasting all their powertools. The forecasted snow didn't eventuate either, though it was still pretty fresh.
First time doing solar. PVs are wired into a series. We had to buy extra cable to extend the provided ones (4 panels, 4 single pair 0.75mm2). One was faulty out of the box but we multi-metered until we found the culprit, and fixed the bugger. We have a DC breaker to isolate the solar and batteries from anything beyond the box. I'm still not 100% over what we did here, but get the general gist.
At the motor I'm a bit more confident. I did the wiring and programming. There is an entry button on a post, an exit beam from the inside (involved a PCB mod to convert from normally-closed to normally-open), and safety beams.
Changed the opening speed, distance to begin deceleration on opening and closing, and deceleration speed. Added a couple of RF buttons for vehicles.
There's a lot to gates than meets the eye. Good to get this one done. Great way to round out the week.
