Yeah ime emotional stress leads to physical pain, tension
Look up the mindbody connection that goes into more detail
And how thousands have "healed" their back pain, niggles etc just by becoming aware of and dealing with painful emotions (incl getting rid of stress like you)
Sounds cuckoo at first but it works

Good pain

My niggles are slowly dissipating, which I contribute to no more donning of the work boot - climbing up and down ladders all day, or crawling into roof and floor spaces twisting and turning into weird contortions to screw and drill through nail ridden timber or reinforced concrete. I wake now when I want to wake, not at the call of the almighty Trap. My body is finally getting rest, and I ease my into the day with stretches unrushed, and not at the expense of sleep.

I have time to warm up before a run, not rushing home to beat sundown on already tired legs. I can listen to my gut and postpone a run if it doesn't feel right, not having to hope for the best, only to return 20 minutes later with a clenched...

The pain I had was seemingly endless, never recovering from ankle, knee, hip and back strains. A forever cycle. Mental strains masked by gels, bars, or simply pretending I have the energy, and thus never really enjoying the run anyway, only upsetting injuries further.

Now though, my energy is returning. There's a bit of mojo. The back pain, then the sciatica, and now the knee, are fading. I'm shifting to strength and conditioning with the physio. I can get through a run without my mind constantly on a sharp wee niggle. It's early days, but the pain I am feeling now is a burning of muscles being used as they should. A pain of progress (not pain at all really). I can get used to this.
