🗓️ Weeknote 2025-W51

🦌 Last weekend we went hunting for our Christmas doo. Not normally my thing, but I ended up enjoying the whole experience. We returned with a 3 deer. Our freezers are starting to be well stocked with venison, some still being processed at the butchers.
🩸 I had an MRI on my knee finally. Fell asleep with the thumping and whirring while listening to Metallica on the headphones. Go figure. Results should be discussed tomorrow with the doc. Don't think there'll be much more news. Docs and physio are just leaning towards load management with strength and conditioning, which is working right now. I'm happy with that. Still got half of summer to go, so I should be getting a few good missions in if I'm sensible.
🏃 My running milage is picking up. I'm careful to not increase my weekly load by 10%, but it is good to be out in the hills again at a beaut time of year.
🌱 The garden is going bonkers. Greens, beets, tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, capsicum, chilli, potatoes, eggplant, onions. Exciting time of year. I fixed my wonkey greenhouse door so it slides open and close smoothly again... until the next major wind event at least.
💻 I installed NextCloud, Immich and Tailscale on my Supermicro server. Haven't played with NextCloud much, but Immich is a fantastic photo album software. Super fast album scrolling, and syncing works a breeze with my Android. Tailscale has been great to remote access my music on Jellyfin too.
💻 Tools
-
Virtualbox - Because I've got interest in this space, not necessarily experience, I was voluntold to set up a laptop to run Linux with access to Windows on a virtual environment. I managed to get things going with Virtualbox. It took a bit of tweaking, but so far have managed to install and run Windows 10 and Windows-only software, sync folders with the Linux environment, and recognise USB devices.
-
Angry IP Scanner - Moving to Linux on the work laptop meant finding replacement tools we use regularly. Angry IP Scanner is a great alternative to the Windows-only Advanced IP Scanner. It feels a lot quicker too.
