With Friday having some good weather forecasted we decided to venture out 3 hours NE to the Ohau Snow Fields for some more skiing and time together. We had a blast. The place is amazing, and we jagged the weather. Bluebird day and not a breath of wind. The road up is pretty knarly. Take spare undies. It was dead quiet at the top. 10 cars maybe. Such a cool vibe having the mountain almost to yourself. When we left there were probably 30-odd cars. The runs were wide but steep. I was struggling to stay upright most of the day. I think I lean too far back as I kept overturning on the steep sections and falling upside down. Room for improvement. With a bit more snow cover I reckon you could really get the most out of the mountain.
The lodge at the base of the mountain and on Lake Ohau had amazing views up the head of the lake and the valleys beyond, including a mountain we creatively claimed and named "Flat Top Mountain", then promptly discovered was New Zealand's largest and most famous mountain Aoraki / Mount Cook ๐คฆ The ridge between High Peak and Middle Peak totally threw us off from this angle.
Nah bugger it. It's Flat Top Mountain.
The lodge itself was cool. Reminded me of The Shining, but with less murder ๐ค
Safe to say I am head over heels. We're hitting it off well. She is so fun to be with. Bubbly. Energetic. Herself. Sexy. Smiley. I love her touch. Small ones, and deep ones. In public, in private. I'm comfortable with her. I smile just thinking of her. She's confident and considerate. Great sense of humour. Cheeky. We can be ourselves. No worries. I like our conversations. She is fascinated by cool shit. She makes me think beyond my small box. There is alignment in the important things. Discovery in conversing. And so much more.
๐ฑ Down at the allotment I prepped a couple beds for future spuds. Soil smells and feels really good with all the rain and broad beans keeping it alive over winter. One more bed to get ready. Need to feed the garlic in first two. They're growing, but could do with a boost.
๐๏ธ I got inspiration to draw again. I don't know how to draw teeth or snow.
๐ My housemate's work contract ended and so he's moved out. Place to myself again. I will see how I go for a while before getting someone in again. The extra income is nice, but so is the quiet.

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) - It was good fun. I haven't seen a Jurassic movie since the first 2 so it was a nice little revisit to the genre.

Bjรถrk - Debut (1993) - I never really gave Bjรถrk a go back when her first albums were coming out. But now I am. And I diggidy dig. Such a unique voice and style of music.

Home Lab Beginners guide (Hardware) | Hayden James - A personal write-up of a home lab server setup with all the modifications along the way. Good insight into the decisions behind all the pieces. Helpful plain English for beginners like the title suggests. Given me some things to think about as I step into this space.
