🗓️ Weeknote 2025-W16
2025-04-21 16:38
Some random front-of-mind pieces from my week.
🏃 Ran 10.5km / 120m profile - Mojo just aint there.
🚴 Rode 33.4km / 488m - Nice ride with Autumn colours (photos below)
🌱 Harvested another couple of pumpkins. Allotment is self sowing a whole bunch of broad beans from last season. I've left this spot go for a while so I've been wandering down every now and then removing weeds around the beans. Will do a planting soon to fill some more gaps with more beans and garlic which is due to go in for Winter.
🩸 Health - Knee is still giving me grief. Going to start mixing in some bike rides for low impact exercise. I'm going nuts.
🏢 Work - It was a slow week. Seem to be on top of all the work. Boss was away. Let's see what happens this week.
📝 I haven't been writing much on here as I've been mucking around with setting up a new notes website. I have some things in mind I'd like to post though. It's been just over a year since I started blogging and using Linux. Reckon I can write a recap. A lot has happened.
💻 Website - No changes here, though I have started notes.zkbro.com for a bit more structured posting on things I need to reference from time to time. I have been moving some old posts on here across to there that fit the bill and updating them as I do it. I want to dedicate a bit more time into writing these out. Focus in on a particular topic.
💻 Tools
-
MkDocs and Material for MkDocs - A beautiful and functional static site generator for documentation/notes/wiki-style websites. Documentation is great. Start with out-of-the-box settings, or customise the hell out of it.
-
GTL: Gemini Tiny Logs - A TUI for the Tinylog format in the Gemini protocol. Tinylogs are getting a healthy dose of love and revamping right now, which is apt given a lot of folks are getting tired of the regular socials. GTL allows you to build your own feed (like RSS), and reply with your own Tinylog if you have one.
-
caddy - website server I'm using for notes.zkbro.com running on my Raspberry Pi. I am still a little confused about running these tools as a daemon with systemd and setting up correct file permissions, but I found it a tonne easier than Apache to at least get things working at the basic level.
-
ddclient - used to push my current IP to my domain dns record on namecheap.com. I can't get the refresh to happen automatically and regularly, but I can quickly -force an update if needed. The setup is very minimal so don't know where I'm going wrong.
📺 Watched
-
Mickey 17 (2025) - I thought this was absolute crap. I sat through the >2hrs thinking about how anyone would rate this movie, why the world has dedicated so much time, money and effort into such tripe. I probably would've enjoyed it as a 20 minute TV episode, but the whole thing dragged on, had no surprises, a whole lot of unneccessary over-the-top yelling, mixed in with a lot of mumbling. If you want to see a funny piss-take on the state of our world watch Idiocracy. If you want to see an alien race getting rudely demolished in their own home, watch Aliens. 0.5 stars out of 10. 0.5 for the time I was given to ponder the state of the world as I zoned out from the movie.
-
Rogue Heroes Season 2 (TV) (2025) - Not as good as the first season. Became a Paddy Mayne show. I really enjoyed the presence of Stirling and Lewes in the first season. With Lewes dead and Stirling confined to a cell, Mayne got the gist of the screen time, though Reg's turmoil was a nice touch.
