đī¸ Weeknote 2025-W14

Some random front-of-mind pieces from my week.
đ Ran 34.9km / 562m profile - Pain free over 3 runs! Been keeping it very steady, nothing too steep. Enjoying the light load and no pain. I had to force myself not to do the organised event yesterday up at Remarks. I'll be back at it properly soon.
đą Harvested some Chinese Cabbages and made a stirfry with chickpeas, spices and some kimchi which is ready for eating. It is delicious. Planted some carrots, rocket, spinach and a mesclun mix.
đĸ Work - A lot of troubleshooting this week. Meshing WAPs, programming Shelly relays, finishing pre-wires. Note to self - they always request extra cable runs than written in the schedule. Ensure sufficient holes into rack hubs!
đšī¸ I finished Hotline Miami! The first game I've finished in my life. It was a fun little timefiller.
đģ I created a script to complement my todo.txt file. It generates a weekview-on-a-page, perfect for printing and sticking on the fridge.
đģ DVI to HDMI converter arrived so I got the salvaged desktop computer up and running. It logged me into Windows 10 as "David" without any password prompts. Had a quick look around for any floating music files (booo, didn't find any), ignored all the personal stuff, and did a fresh install of Debian. I'll be using this as a backup machine. Workmate going to give me another couple of hard drives sitting in his garage. This one has 256gb.
đ Finished reading Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Great fiction, on relationships mainly, and how they are intertwined with their careers as game developers.
đ Started reading Googled (2009) by Ken Auletta. A bit dated, but enjoying the history.
đģ Website - Just because I can, I hand-wrote my main page. I'll leave it up for a week. Not good on mobile, sorry. Actually, not good anywhere. I used image-map.net to create the HTML. Very quick and easy.
đģ Tools
-
Image Map Generator - Quickly map links to an image to make it clickable. The interface is really simple.
-
screenfetch - A 273KB neofetch alternative that doesn't require 32mb of dependencies.
-
cpufetch - Like screenfetch, but for hardware. 113KB. Both available on apt.
đē Watching...
- Black Mirror - Season 4 (2017) - Still loving this show.
đ§ Listening to...
- Soma FM - Enjoying this in the mornings while getting ready for work. Mainly the Groove Salad station.
