🗓️ Weeknote 2024-W52

Some random front-of-mind pieces from my week.
🏃 Ran 101.5km / 1,527m profile - A big week of running. Haven't hit 100 for a long time. With an additional 9 hours a day from not working, being in Aus, getting my explorer mode on, and surrounded by flatter terrain the distance came relatively easy. Really enjoying visiting old haunts and some new ones too. Interesting profile this week with a run starting at the top of a hill and going into the valley and back out. Not something I get much of back in Queenstown. Enjoying getting 📸 snappy while out.
🩸 Health - Back is not feeling the greatest, but if I keep moving it holds up ok. Look forward to getting my bed back next week.
🎄 Holidays - Hanging with fam bam in Aus. Christmas at mums. Lots of cold meats, prawns and salads.. perfect for Summer weather. We always get a puzzle out that we all have a go at. Boxing Day cricket match on in background. Beers, beaches, fish n chips, all the good Aussie things. Good to see my dog Madi (who now lives with mum). We watched the cricket, IT Crowd and Muster Dogs together.
🗑️ It's official. Cancelled my Microsoft subscription before they hit me up for another annual fee.
💻 Tools
- async-neocities - I use Neocities to host my website and have been using the neocities CLI to upload/update content, but each time I "push" using that tool it runs through every single file one by one at a very slow pace to determine what to upload. It hasn't been an issue because I didn't have many files, but now that's changing it can take 5-10 minutes to iterate through. Luckily async-neocities fixes this, doing some kind of wizardry to figure out what needs to be uploaded in a couple of seconds. So now after building my website I type the alias
neopush
to run this magical tool and bam, website updated.
📚 Reading 2000AD comics from my collection in Sydney. Read the prog released April 20, 1985, 1 day before I was born. Loving the stories. I will take some back with me to NZ.
📺 Watched
-
Idiocracy (2006) - Mum and I realised we weren't really in the loop with the current US political situation, so we got up to speed with this cracker.
-
Boxing Day test - Standard background telly this time of year.
-
The IT Crowd (Season 1) - Some easy laughs from Britain.
🎧 Listening to...
- soma fm - I grabbed control of the music on Christmas day and just used a bunch of stations on soma. No complaints from anyone. The Jolly ol' Soul station got the most use, which was some nice bluesy soul Christmas music which is possibly the only Christmas music I can handle.

Notes for 2024-12-25
[09:17] Was told this morning I always remind people of a positive when someone says something negative. Never realised I do this. Nice complement.
Notes for 2024-12-29
[10:39] If I write a bash script that calls a bunch of other terminal utilities to do things I want slightly differently, customised to my workflows and integrated tools, what is the tool I created called? Utility, script, tool, doer-of-things?
