ποΈ Weeknote 2024-W33
2024-08-18 13:56
Just some random front-of-mind pieces from my week.
-
π©Έ Starting to feel myself again. Might be the warmer weather, longer days, getting my fitness in, slowing down at work, having a house mate, or talking about it. Not sure. I'm not going to stop seeing the experts though.
-
π Ran 61.38km / 1,437m. Very close to back to normal, minus the elevation. Owe it to two pretty flat running commutes of 15km each way. Clocked an 18km longrun on Saturday around the Big Hill loop at Arrowtown. Felt like a milestone getting that one in. Body is feeling good.
-
π₯© There's a new butcher conveniently located in the industrial area where I start/finish my Arrowtown runs. I finally went in to check it out. It's got some amazing cuts of locally sourced meat. More expensive, but you pay for the quality. I'll be making this my go-to from now. They do coffee and a dangerously delicious takeaway menu too. This is NOT a good place to finish my longruns.
-
π Housemate stayed only a week. He found a place with his girlfriend a lot quicker than expected. We had good chats. Enjoyed hearing about his hometown back in Argentina - El ChaltΓ©n. Sounds intensely cold, but photos of the surrounds look amazing. The Fitz Roy mountain peak looks awesome.
-
πΊ Watched Halt and Catch Fire season 3. I'm struggling to enjoy it at this stage. I'm not really enjoying any of the characters any more. I understand that their flaws are what make the drama in the show, but it could've been dialled back a nudge. Bos is the only one I like at this stage.

π» Site Updates
- Added an elevation profile of my recent activities into the header of the website.
- Added meta tags.
- Added a me photo.
-
π»π± After a bit of faff I got the Zola static site generator and Neocities CLI utilities (what makes this website) up and running on Termux on my Android. I need to work on my scripts before I can post from my phone, but feel like its doable now. I'll need to figure out syncing as well - I want to sync between Windows 11, Linux Mint and Android. rsync?
-
π»ππΆ Installed Jellyfin on my Windows laptop and Finamp on my Android so I can now play my music library on my phone. Enjoying revisiting my old tunes that have been laying dormant on my external hard drive for years. I just downloaded Fintunes and Symfonium as well to compare options. I've been reading more about self hosting, servers, NAS and all that lately. Confuses the heck out of me, but I get it.
-
πΆ Listening to... In light of my new exploration of my old music files, I've started downloading a rotating 3 albums to my phone so I immerse myself in them a bit more.
- Audioslave - Self Titled - Chris Cornell and the Rage fellas, what more can I say?
- Gomez - Bring It On - I completely missed this band back in the day so this is a pleasant random surprise. Love the cruisy feels and raspy vocals.
- Gorod - Process of a New Decline - A solid tech death metal album. Last album with Guillaume Martinot (vocals) and Arnaud Pontacq (guitar). Added their next album to this week's rotation for comparison.
Bigger post than usual. Sorry. Here's some photos from runs, commutes and my phone going beyond its comfort zone.
