Weeknote 2024-W32

My first weeknote on this new wee place on the web. Feel like it's ready. I've got multiple places up and running now which I'll deal with later, but I want to test this one out. So, here it is.

🩸 Ok, first the hard stuff. I've been in a rut for the last few months. Work, Covid, injuries and flu took its toll and surfaced my deep dark self inflicting negativity that plunged me into a spiral of even poorer health and wellbeing. I struggle to write about this, so I'll keep it short. I'm taking steps. I saw my GP and got a referral to a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) who I start sessions with on Monday. I've been talking to my family and my manager at work who are all supportive.

🏃 My running is getting back to being regular. Given my struggles to just get out the door, I took my sister's advice and just did some smaller ones to get the habit back. That quickly improved and got me to a 15km longrun on Saturday.

🎽 Watching sport - I watched a bit of the Olympics, Wallabies vs Springboks and the Sierre-Zinal skyrace. I haven't allowed myself this luxury for a while, but it was exactly what I needed. Watching all these athletes gave me more motivation to get out the door. The highlight was the Sierre-Zinal race towards the end with Kenyan Philemon Ombogo Kiriago giving Kilian Jornet a scare on the final descent prompting an impressive push to the finish line.

🏠 I've got a new housemate for the next month taking the spare room. Seems a nice fella.

📺 Watched Halt and Catch Fire season 2. Loving this show. It ran from 2014 - 2017 over 4 seasons. Recommend to anyone into early days of computing, the world wide web and Silicon Valley.

💻 Getting this website up and running is fun. Feel like I'm making progress quickly. I need to re-write my posting bash script to cater for the new post types. I've been pointed to the 'make' utility which may be just the tool to assist. Thanks Chris!
Over the next week my priorities are my health. Getting enough sleep and sunshine, trying not to beat myself up, stretching and eating well.
