🗓️ Weaknote 2025-W12

Calling this a weak note because I'm not using my template which prompts me to fill out a fair bit which I don't particularly feel the energy for.

Finished my CEDIA course today - Got a Cabling and Infrastructure Technician certificate, however I still need to do an exam to close it all out. It was a pretty good fundamentals course for someone like me just stepping into the industry. It combined well with what we actually do on site. I'll do some revision before booking in my exam. Hoping to continue study on the more advanced modules. Times well with my upcoming annual review with the boss this week.

Continue reading Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow - It's a great fiction about how the relationships of a few characters are intertwined into their creative outputs (computer game development), and all the tensions of real life affecting/influencing designs of the games they make, with subtle underlying meanings being embedded intentionally (or unintentionally). I am really enjoying it.

Been watching some sport again with the Rugby and NRL season starting up again. Realised I can use my VPN to login to Australia's Channel 9 to watch the games live. I just hook the laptop up to the TV. I watched some Australian news too. Forgot how bad our accent is. TV presenters are the worst.

Also watching the occasional Black Mirror episode. Just start Season 4. Really enjoying these. They are eerily close to current affairs. I like (dislike?) how every episode so far has ended in a bad way. The show picks really well at poor state of affairs. I mean, episode 1 was about a kidnapping of a princess where the ransom request was for the prime minister to f*ck a pig on live television! There's also one about a cartoon character that gets political, and wins a lot of votes, and another about robotic bees (created to replace the extinct bees) that get hacked to kill people based on social media hashtag polls. Nuts.

I haven't been running lately. Decided to give my knee a rest, which has been giving me shooting sharp pain, particularly when going up hill. I know it just needs rest and stretching so I'm giving it that. I did do two rogaines though. We cleared the course on one and fell short by 3 checkpoints on the other. There's a final one next week, but I'll politely decline for the sake of my knee.

Anchored in the 4 steel stirrups for future pergola. Went to buy the timber but realised it was more expensive than expected. Will save for another couple weeks before making the purchase. Have the plan all ready to go. Once I've got the timber should only take half a day to cut and construct.

Neighbour got a new washing machine so no longer need to come over and use mine. I like that I have such friendly neighbours, and that they must feel the same way. Anyway, picked up some washing tips along the way.

Thanks to gogh I'm using a blue theme in my terminal. I like it.

Bottled a whole lot of Korean Kimchi last week with a friend. The stuff is smelling amazing in the garage. It's been bubbling away. Leaving the lids loose at the moment while it's really active, come in a push down to close the airpockets every couple weeks (and subsequently lick the spoon I do it with).
Font of mind for the week ahead
- Annual review at work. Need to prepare some discussion points.
- Rest the knee. Stretch, massage.
- Review CEDIA notes for exam.
- Do some programming or a little website tinkering.
