Warm wash setting

I've always considered myself pretty good at general home tasks, avoiding living like I slob. But I've completely missed this one - Using hot water in the washing machine. I've always by default just gone with a straight cold wash - because from memory my first washing machine was only connected to cold - and I just stuck with it. I've always wondered how people manage to have crinkle-free t-shirts all the time - I would have to iron my t-shirt to get that result - no thanks - I'll iron shirts but not t-shirts. I also wondered why the yellow sweat/sunscreen/filth stains around the necks of my shirts never came off, regardless of the detergent or even stain remover I used. Even after one or two wears my t-shirts seemed ruined - stained and crinkled.
Until this week.
My neighbours are coming over and using my machine at the moment while they wait for a spare part for their broken one, and we got chatting about my dilemma of clothes never seeming washed properly, and if they were having any issues with my machine. They weren't, and I saw that they were using the warm/cold setting, and they suggested maybe that will help. It clicked that I never even thought of using warm. I actually had it in my head that this house wasn't connected to it either, but that was just a memory from my first home!
So I tried the warm water and the stains seem to be removing, and my t-shirts are less crinkled! I feel so stupid. But I also feel like strutting now in my fresh clothes.
