The sounds of today

Sounds as I rememebered today. On my way to workshop, heater blaring at full pelt to finish defrosting the windows. Channel X - a local radio station - at a low volume. As I turned the fans down, a Green Day song was playing (can't remember which one). Later I was passenger in boss' ute - he had his streaming music playing - easy listening electronic stuff. It was good. Crunching of grit and ice towards the top of the Crown Range. Work site - noisy as any site I've been to. Jackhammers and whacka packas (uhh technical name?) in a heavily concreted buildings. Used ear muffs most the day. Sign language with teammates, and yelling through conduits, as we feed cables to each other. A builder had his own drum and base music streaming on his boombox. Unneccessarily loud. He was on the drop saw regularly. Did a lot of work underneath in the basement, but was still deafening through the conduits running between floors. My turn. I used an impact drill to blast 25mm holes through four concrete blocks. Digger digging, bucket on stone, wheel tracks needing a greasing. Later, back in the ute. More electronica. Low volume as we chat. A few business calls on the bluetooth as we come back over the range. My own van. Podcast. Darknet Diaries. Home. Quiet. Housemate cooking. My turn. Rangehood fan. Quiet outside. Now, keyboard tapping. Housemate on phone down the hall. Car goes past. Ears ringing slightly from earlier despite ear protection. Fridge creaking and groaning.
