Surveying Pooncarie 2014

2024-11-08 17:00

While I compress a bunch of old photos that don't need to be a stupid amount of kilobytes, I thought I'd share some interesting ones as I come across them.

These ones taken out near Pooncarie, western NSW in September 2014, when I was part of a surveying team placing ground control for a state-wide joint 50cm aerial imagery and 0.9m elevation modelling project. There was a lot involved in these field trips, both in planning, and decision making while we were out in the sticks. We relied on our HF radios a lot for communication, and watched the weather intently, as 10mm of rain in this flat country could strand us for days (we did numerous vehicle rescues). Always plenty of wildlife to keep us entertained (or dodge, in the late evenings), and the colourful landscape was always interesting.
