Fresh dump of interesting and/or useful web links I've found recently. Full link stash here.
This week: It's all about alternative web environments and capturing some feelings I'm resonating with.
246. Hyperlinked Text
A directory of text-only aggregators, feeds, blogs, tools and servers.

A HTTPS portal to alternative Smol protocols. Easy way to browse around the other webs without specific clients.
TAGS:
, , , "Bash and the shell predates GUI software, and while I won't make a definitive prediction, it could even potentially outlast it." I reckon that prediction is coming ot light. Or at least we're being split into camps (see link 242). Nice list of resources at the bottom of the article.

The Gemini client I use on desktop and Android. Looks great, and once you get used to the key bindings browsing is a breeze.
TAGS:
, , , , "Maybe the web is not dying. Maybe the web is only splitting itself in two... But if you want to jump ship, now is the time to get back to the simple web." I feel like I'm splitting into the latter camp. It's much nicer over here.

, Dropping protocols like they're vegetables. Don't like the current web? There are options. I'm finding myself drawn to these more and more, for reasons I'm trying to unpack.

I want to work on deleting the negative messaging the internet and society has filled my head with over the past decade and I want to focus on the things that bring me joy, not writing blog posts like this." Yep. Thanks for writing the post you (and I) didn't want to write. I try and stay away from that too. Just do my thang. Be the web I want to to see.
